Attention Authors:
Prior to submitting your work for consideration through our Author Inquiry, please read our Phenom Publishing Terms & Conditions carefully. By submitting your work, it is understood that you agree to these terms and conditions should we decide to move forward with your project. For all questions or concerns, contact the Editors@Phenom-Publishing.com.
We at Phenom Publishing pour our heart and soul into each collaborative project. When working with an author, we treat their written work with the utmost care, offering our expertise to bring forth a PHENOMenal masterpiece.
We consider our commitment to our Phenoms as an investment both in them and their projects, and we require the same commitment in return. Phenom Publishing values creative collaboration, and mutual symbiosis is integral to this process.
Once we accept a submission, our authors will receive specific guidelines as to how to proceed, but in general, our publishing process is as follows:
Order of Operations for Publishing a Written Work
Upon an author’s inquiry submission, they will receive either an email rejection or email invitation to a Meet & Greet to discuss the publishing process and to see if there is alignment with Phenom’s core values.
Meet & Greet: The goal of the first meeting is to discuss the Phenom Publishing 75/25 Policy* and baseline financial obligations based on initial review of the manuscript, potential extra services, the publishing process, and expectations. Here, we lay all cards on the table.
If all parties are aligned and excited to proceed, the author receives a Letter of Intent referencing relevant points from the previous meeting, including Pre-publication Author Tasks and financial obligations with a 90 day deadline from the day Letter of Intent is signed.
Once the 90 day expectations are met, the author will be invited to a Kick-off Meeting to review the Pre-Publication Author Tasks and to discuss logistics of the publishing schedule.
Within 2-7 business days of the Kick-off Meeting, Phenom will generate the Publishing Contract, which will include the final estimate, publishing schedule, and invoice for deposit.
It takes an average of 3 months to prepare the work for publication and includes bimonthly meetings throughout the process. The final step in the process is to review a hard-proof copy of the final work. Once the proof copies are ordered, Phenom issues a final invoice for the balance due from the author, and it is to be paid before the work is officially published.
Once the work is live, Phenom advertises through social channels and provides the author with any assets it creates, so they may promote their creation. The author will be provided with a price sheet for ordering author copies, wholesale costs, and retail costs of their work.
*The Phenom Publishing 75/25 Policy is as follows:
Phenom Publishing’s initial investment in its authors is 75% of the cost of publishing the written work, which is formally estimated after the Kick-Off meeting and is written into the Author Contract.
The author is responsible for 25% of the cost of publishing the written work.
Once the work is published, 75% of the royalties will reimburse Phenom Publishing’s initial investment, and 25% will go to the author.
Once the initial investment is reimbursed, the 75/25 will flip to 25/75 and the author will receive 75% of the royalties as per the terms of the Publishing Contract, and Phenom Publishing will receive 25% of the royalties as per the terms of the Publishing Contract.
The author is responsible for all hard costs, i.e., author copies, shipping costs, etc.
The author is responsible for any extra services that may be required.
